Monterojo was founded in March 2024, when Dario set off to cycle from Amsterdam to China. From that moment, the journey unfolded far beyond a single destination.

In April 2025, the documentary film "Cycling to Sunrise" was released and has since been selected for the Travel Film International Film Festival in Moscow.
We crossed the Sahara on the iron train, sailed the Mediterranean Sea, kayaked across Southern France, and crossed the Alps on foot.
In the meantime, we have been preparing for our next big journey.
2026
From September 2026, Dario and Vera will start a one-year cycling world tour.
Once again beginning in Europe, this time the route will pass through the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia, with the aim of reaching Japan, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand.
This time the purpose is not a fixed endpoint, but to follow where the road leads: creating documentaries, photo series, short films, and written work along the way.
